Boston United Preview
May 7
The curtain comes down on an eventful season tomorrow with the visit of Boston United to Aggborough. A season that started out promisingly with two straight wins but quickly degenerated into a long winless streak, saw the sacking of Ian Britton and reinstatement of Jan Molby; a season with a thrilling FA Cup run that almost saw a Premier League side knocked out at Aggborough, and a season that saw The Reds flirt with relegation before safety was ensured with two games left.
Jan Molby has an almost full squad to choose from; all players except for the long-term injured trio of Dean Bennett, Dean Keates and Kenny Coleman should be available for selection; John Danby picked up a knee injury in the game at Torquay and hasn't trained all week but should be able to play, Stuart Brock stands by if needed; Leon Clarke has recovered from the ankle injury that kept him out of the game at Plainmoor. Abdou Sall returns to the squad after serving a one-game ban last weekend but Molby himself will have to watch the game from the stand as he serves the second of his four-game suspension.
Boston are likely to be without Tom Bennett who has a knee injury but David Noble could feature. The midfielder is currently on loan from West Ham United but has agreed to sign a 2-year contract with The Pilgrims.
United's form has been erratic this season; from November to February they won just two games in the League but more recently results have picked up and they went close to pushing for a place in the play-offs. Away from home they are currently on a good run with three wins and a draw from the last four games.
When the sides met at York Street earlier in the season the game ended in a 2-2 draw. Harriers took a two-goal lead through a Craig Hinton penalty and a good goal from Andy White but then threw it away allowing Andy Boyd to score twice to level the scores. Last season's game at Aggborough was an instantly forgettable 0-0 draw.
I expect Harriers to line-up as follows (4-3-3): Danby, Gadsby, Burton, Hinton, Hatswell, Murray, Yates, Brown, Christiansen, Clarke, Parrish.
Refereeing the game is Joe Ross from London. This season he has refereed 30 games in which he has issued 89 yellow cards and two red. In Division Three he has done ten games and shown 24 yellow and one red. This will be the third time this season that he has had a Harriers game; he was in charge for the fateful trip to Hull that ended in a 6-1 drubbing and also for the 1-1 draw at home to Darlington.
