Nine Players In Aggborough Exodus
May 10
Jan Molby has wielded the axe on his squad today releasing nine of the 15 out-of-contract players. Long-serving players Stuart Brock and Scott Stamps have played their last games for the club, as have Mark Yates, John Williams, Sean Parrish, Matt Gadsby, Graham Ward, Kenny Coleman and Adam Willis.
Some of the names are surprising; Molby suggested after the draw at Torquay that Ward and Parrish may have done enough to stay, Parrish has in truth been one of the better performers in recent weeks.
Yates may feel a little disappointed that he hasn't been offered a new deal after his performances holding the midfield together since his return to the club and being the leader on the field that Molby said the team needed.
Less surprising are the departures of Williams, who has not had a contract for most of the season; Coleman and Willis, neither of whom have had the chance to impress Molby because of injury.
The other six players whose contracts are about to expire - John Danby, Steve Burton, Chris McHale, Abdou Sall, Dean Bennett and Craig Hinton have all been offered new terms. Sall has agreed to a one-year contract and McHale has signed his first professional contract that will keep him at Aggborough for the next two seasons.
