Dean Bennett Agrees To Stay

Midfielder Dean Bennett today agreed to stay at Aggborough and signed a new two-year contract.

Bennett was one of six players offered new contracts by Harriers boss Jan Molby last week before he went on holiday.  Three of the players signed theirs, Bennett chose to give his careful consideration before agreeing to accept terms that were, in fact, less than he was previously on despite interest from other clubs.

Speaking to the Official Website, Molby said, "There was interest from other clubs and I understand he has spoken to a couple of those. Dean has re-signed for us for less money than he was on last year and I’m delighted he wants to be part of what we are trying to do here.  Sometimes it is better to stick with what you know and he has taken that option. Money is tight here but we are trying to put a decent side together and he wants to be part of that."

Meanwhile, Craig Hinton has been given a little more time to think over his contract offer before comitting himself.  As with Bennett he would be on reduced terms if he was to accept it.  Molby said, "Like with Dean Bennett, Craig has been offered less favourable terms that he was on under his last contract.  Craig understands we aren’t in the same financial situation we were when he signed his last contract but this next move is an important one for him.  Because we are offering him less money than he was on I feel it is only fair I give him a few more weeks to assess what he wants to do."
