Craig Hinton Decides To Leave
June 2
Fans' favourite Craig Hinton has turned down the offer of an extended contract and decided to try his luck elsewhere.
After spending six years at Aggborough he is now expected to link up with Division Three rivals Bristol Rovers on a Bosman free transfer. Harriers had offered him a two-year extension to his current deal but at reduced terms; after much consideration the player has decided to take a better offer from the Pirates.
Speaking to the Harriers' Official Website, boss Jan Molby said, "I'm obviously disappointed he’s going to be leaving but I understand and respect his decision. I would have loved to have kept him but the offer we made him was less than is currently earning. I understand Bristol made him a decent financial offer and, especially at this level of football, you have to look after number one. To be fair to Craig he knew we made him the best offer we could afford and he never once came back to try and barter himself a better deal."
Along with the goalscorers and left winger that he has already stated that he is looking for, Molby will now have to look at bringing in more defensive cover to the squad as he currently only has four defenders, three of whom are inexperienced youngsters.
