Preview: Harriers v AFC Wimbledon

November 27

With Barrow still involved in the FA Cup Harriers instead welcome AFC Wimbledon to Aggborough for the first time tomorrow.

It will be another opportunity for Harriers to record a double having won the first meeting of the clubs this season 1-0 with a Matt Barnes-Homer goal.  As that was the first-ever encounter between the clubs Harriers obviously have the upper hand in the all-time series.

Barnes-Homer, however, will not be able to repeat his feat having moved on yesterday to Luton Town.  This means that there will be at least one change to the side that drew at Wrexham on Tuesday.  Either Ryan Charles or Damian Spencer will come into the side to partner Robbie Matthews with the other starting on the bench.  Danny Andrew picked up a knock in the game at The Racecourse but should be OK to take part if selected.  Missing through injury will be John Finnigan and Kyle Hadley who both have groin strains, while Zac Costello has today joined Evesham United on loan for a month and so also will not figure.

Wimbledon are still enjoying their first season at the top level of non-league football even though they have won just twice in the six league games played since the first meeting with Harriers in early October; they did, however, win in midweek 3-0 against lowly Ebbsfleet.  Terry Brown has a few injuries to contend with; Alan Inns and James Pullen are certain to miss out with long-term problems while Lewis Taylor, Jay Conroy and one-time Harriers trialist Danny Kedwell have all been receiving treatment for various knocks but could be OK to play.

I expect Harriers to line-up as follows (4-3-1-2); Coleman; Courtney, Andrew, Caines, Riley; McPhee, Bennett, Smikle; McDermott; Matthews, Charles.
Subs (from): Baker, Knights, Singh, Dolman, Sharpe, Farrell, Hayward, Spencer.
Missing (injured): Finnigan, Hadley.
Missing (on loan): Costello.

The referee will be Robert Madley from West Yorkshire.  This will be his second Harriers game, last season he did the Setanta Shield game at Burton Albion.

Tomorrow's weather forecast suggests that it will be showery with a temperature around 6°C at kick-off time.
