Match Report by St@tto
A last gasp goal from Bo Henriksen gave Harriers victory in a competitive local derby to end their pre-season programme.

Harriers gave a first run out to new signing Sean Flynn who added a hard-working edge to the midfield and was eventually named sponsor's Man-of-the-Match despite good performances throughout the team.  The passing was much crisper than before which will have pleased manager Ian Britton who rightly put much emphasis on his teams doing the basics well, also the tackling was better although there was some very strong challenges from players on both sides that were most uncharacteristic of a pre-season friendly.

Despite the improvement by Harriers, goalmouth action was limited in the first half as both teams were quite evenly matched and to a certain extent cancelled each other out.  Drewe Broughton had a shot saved by Book in the visitor's goal before giving Harriers the lead after 28 minutes from the penalty spot.  Steve Jones, who almost joined Harriers last summer, was adjudged to have pushed the big striker and Broughton himself stepped forward to tuck the penalty into the bottom corner just beyond the dive of Book.

The visitors drew level on the stroke of half time, Paul Brayson broke into the Harriers penalty area and benefitted from a lucky rebound as Craig Hinton tried to tackle him and then tucked his shot past Stuart Brock.

After the break The Robins stepped up a gear for 15-20 minutes and took the lead just eight minutes in.  In the first five minutes of the half Stuart Brock was twice called into action, first getting down to Hugh McAuley's shot that he saw late as it came through a crowd of players, and then diving at full stretch to tip Brayson's shot around the post for a corner.  On 53 minutes, Book had a rush of blood to the head and charged out of his area to clear but was dispossessed near the touch line, Ian Joy picked up the ball and crossed only to see his attempt rebound off the crossbar and Dean Bennett followed up and fired the rebound wide.  Cheltenham attacked straight away and in seconds Damian Spencer was watching his effort come back off the crossbar but he had more luck with the rebound which he headed in.

Harriers kept playing their game and did not let their heads drop, Flynn and Sean Parrish dominated the midfield driving their team on and up front Drewe Broughton was working as hard as he has in his entire Harriers career while young full back Scott Lower did all that he could to stake a claim for a place in the starting line-up when the proper stuff starts next week against Lincoln.  Broughton almost created an equaliser for Henriksen but his volley was well saved by Book.  Ian Joy got forward again with 18 minutes remaining and fed Bennett on the right, his chipped pass to the far post found Broughton in space who brought the ball down well on his chest and volleyed past Book to level the scores.

The home team almost snatched a winner with nine minutes remaining when a low cross from Sam Shilton found Henriksen at the near post but he steered his shot just over the bar.  The Dane was not having much luck but in stoppage time a long pass from Joy beat the defence and dropped nicely for him to pick his spot as he fired past Book to earn a dramatic victory for Harriers.
