Match Report by St@tto
A see-saw match saw Harriers outscored by Doc Marten's side Solihull Borough on their first visit to the nicely appointed Damson Park.

Harriers started briskly and were ahead after just five minutes.  Ian Foster won the ball off Stuart Saunders on the edge of the penalty area and pulled it back from the by-line for Sam Shilton to turn in at the near post.  A second goal was not long in coming, Foster was upended just inside the area by Morten Titterton when he was in fact heading away from goal and he picked himself up to take the kick and send Gary Hateley the wrong way.

Despite the early setbacks, Borough didn't let their heads drop and went close when Chris Smith lobbed over and Simon Hollis curled a shot wide.  Harriers' old achilles heel of defending at set-pieces let them down again eight minutes before the break when they failed to clear a corner from their right and Nick Amos swivelled and volleyed past Stuart Brock.  A corner from the opposite side in the last minute of the half allowed Titterton to sweep a shot in at the near post to bring the home side back level.

After the break the game continued to be fairly even although Harriers probably just edged it on possession and created far more chances.  Hateley in the home goal made a string of saves but apart from one from a diving header by Andy Corbett late in the first half most of them were easy for him to deal with.  Daire Doyle shot weakly at him twice and Sam Shilton was also denied by the keeper shortly after he had hit the bar from less than six yards out.  Harriers regained the lead on the hour, a sweeping crossfield pass by Scott Stamps found Foster on the right and he beat the full back and squared the ball for Corbett to finish from close range.

A neat interchange of passing led to Solihull's equaliser sixteen minutes from time with former Harriers trialist Alex Lobban curling his shot past John Danby.  Two minutes later another set-piece led to Harriers' downfall, a deep free-kick out of defence was knocked on to Mark Shepherd, another ex-Harrier, who headed in and injured himself in the process and had to be substituted for a second time.

Despite the defeat Harriers will have picked up some positives from the game, Lee Kersey a trialist at right back looked worthy of another game with some good crossing and the team continued to score goals and create chances.  If they can tighten up on some of the defensive errors things will start to look good for the coming season.
