Match Report
Kidderminster opened their home campaign in the Central League with a hard fought victory in an entertaining match.

The game ebbed and flowed from end to end right from the start with both teams playing some good football, but surprisingly there were very few clear cut scoring chances in the opening period. Both Andrew Stanford and Andy Corbett forced Martin Holland into saves and Brendan Murphy had to be alert to keep out an effort from Andy Hill. Quite often Harriers created good openings but were unable to get a good finish to the move, twice Tim Jackson crossed well from the left but the United defence were able to clear unchallenged.

After the break the game continued in similar fashion although the goalmouth action increased. The best move of the game saw Drewe Broughton, who was captain and playing in the centre of the defence, brought the ball forward and set up Andy Ducros who saw his effort well saved by Holland. At the other end, Steven Hockett saw his header from Matt Robson's cross flash just past the post.

With the game as open as it was, it was inevitable that a goal would come. Harriers broke the deadlock midway through the second half, substitute Matt Reeves played the ball in from the left to Ducros who found his way to goal blocked in one direction and cut back the other way and slotted his shot from the edge of the penalty area inside Holland's right-hand post.

Despite only having two proper defenders, Abdou Sall and Andrew Stanford, Harriers held firm for the remainder of the game. Ian Foster could have increased the lead but shot straight at the keeper when he had time to do much better.
