Match Report by St@tto
Harriers gained a creditable draw against Tranmere's talented youngsters, but it was not enough to enable them to progress to the Quarter-Final of the League Cup.

Tranmere currently lead the Premier Division of the Avon Insurance League, but Harriers more than matched them throughout the game. Goalmouth action was in short supply during the first half and neither team managed to get a shot on target - not good for Harriers who needed to win by three clear goals to reach the next round.

After the break the game continued in a similar fashion, although there were more chances. Matt Lewis had a shot saved by Andy Ralph in the visitors' goal just after the hour mark, and then Harriers had the best chances of the game soon after. Mark Blake headed against the crossbar, and the Drewe Broughton's follow-up header was hooked off the line by Iain Hume.

Ben Davies felt that he should have been awarded a penalty when he was knocked down by Ryan Taylor, but the referee was not interested. However, with eleven minutes remaining, Taylor brought down Lewis and a penalty was this time given. Lewis stepped up to take the kick, but Ralph dived well to his left to save the shot at the foot of the post.

In the dying moments Harriers had another chance to win the game when substitute Lee Downs' shot was deflected into the path of Broughton, but the striker was slow to react and Ralph quickly smothered the ball. Tranmere held on for the draw and it is them who progress to the next round.
