Harriers suffered their first home defeat in the league, conceding
a goal at home for the first time also.
The teams were evenly matched and to a certain extent cancelled
each other out leading to a rather dour encounter. The visitors
had the best chances of the opening period and went ahead in the
sixteenth minute. The ball was crossed from the right by Michael
Bamber to Lee Hughes at the far post, he mis-kicked but was the
first to react and lashed the ball home from close range at the
second attempt. Harriers' only real chance to score fell to trialist
Alex Kevan who saw his shot saved by Steve Hodgson.
In the second half Harriers pressed forward looking for an equaliser
and eventually changed tactics sacrificing a defender for a third
striker. Substitute Matt Lewis came closest but shot straight at
the keeper from close range. Macclesfield were happy to defend
their lead and in the closing minutes they used every trick that
they could in order to waste time and ensure victory.
