Match Report by St@tto

A goal in stoppage time from Worcester's Shabir Khan prevented Harriers from taking all three points from a hard-fought local derby.

Harriers had played the better football in a dour game but had struggled to get their game flowing as they would have liked by a Worcester side who made up for the gap in talent by tackling hard and making their presence felt.  Such was the impact of their physical approach to the game that Jamie Gleeson lasted just seven minutes before limping off to be replaced by James Dyke.  There had been little incident of note in the first half until Harriers were awarded a penalty when Tom Warmer pulled Stephen Thompson to the ground; Simon Russell took the kick and confidently sent Lewis Skyers the wrong way, as he had done in the first meeting between the sides earlier in the season.

The lead could have been increased shortly afterwards, Jesper Christiansen setting up a chance for Thompson whose 25-yard shot was well saved by Skyers.  At the other end the speedy Dean Clarke broke through the Harriers defence on the City right and hit a powerful shot that Daniel Lewis did well to push away for a corner.  Before the break City had another good chance to equalise when Tom Hobbs got on the end of a Joel Skyers free kick but could only steer it past the post.

After the break the game followed a similar pattern, Harriers played the better football but City's battling qualities kept them in the game; the visitors, in fact, looked a far better team than they had when the sides met a fortnight ago.  It was City who had the best chances in the second half, and Warmer was the instigator on most occasions; first his corner from the right was met by Dan Parker who headed over and then later on his low cross from the right found James Smith who scooped the ball over the bar.  At the other end Christiansen created some half chances but the only time Skyers was tested he held Russell's shot.

Just as it appeared that Harriers were going to take all three points, City snatched an equaliser.  As they game moved into stoppage time they won a corner on the left which Warmer took, his cross into the goalmouth was dangerous and Harriers failed to deal with it leaving Khan a relatively easy close-range finish to level the game up.
