Match Report by St@tto
Harriers' promotion hopes were dealt a severe blow when they were beaten in dramatic fashion by Rochdale in an entertaining game at Aggborough.

Both sides fielded strong teams and went for victory from the start.  Rochdale created the majority of chances in the first half, Kieron Durkan blazed a shot out of the ground in the first minute and later on fired another high and wide.  Poor finishing from both sides meant that neither goalkeeper was troubled much in the opening period, but the game flowed from end to end as both teams played some good football and Sam Shilton did have a shot well saved.

The game sprang into life early in the second period, Andy Ducros and Ben Davies combined on the right to set Sam Shilton free in space and his pull-back to the near post was met by Andy Corbett who turned it in from close range.  Harriers' advantage was short-lived, barely a minute had passed before Rory Patterson wriggled his way through the Harriers defence with the ball seemingly glued to his foot before drilling it past John Danby.

Harriers almost restored their advantage when Tony Bird hit a blistering shot which just clipped the bar, and Corbett saw his shot saved by Neil Edwards in the vistors' goal.  At the other end Steve Jones was proving a handful for Lee Ayres and on more than one occasion forced the defender into errors which led to scoring opportunities.

Michael Keegan created Harriers' second with a perfectly judged through ball into the path of Andy Ducros who calmly slotted his shot past Edwards from the edge of the penalty area.  Rochdale continued to press forward and created a string of chances in their search for an equaliser but fortunately for Harriers they didn't manage to force Danby into action.

Eventually the equaliser came, Durkan floated a free-kick over from the left and Jones rose at the near post to head home.  Ian Foster almost restored the Harriers lead when he triede to curl a shot past Edwards but miscued and hit it straight at him.  Harriers were then cruelly denied even a share of the points two minutes into stoppage time when Durkan got free on the left and crossed for Patterson to head past Danby.

With their defeat, and Hull's draw at Hartlepool, Harriers slipped to third in the league.  To reach the second promotion spot Harriers must beat Mansfield in their final game and hope that Hull don't win either of their games at Halifax and Rochdale.
