Harriers slumped to another defeat in the Youth Alliance, beaten at home by
bottom team Peterborough.
A bright start to the game by both sides suggested that goals were likely,
but the play soon became entrenched in the middle section of the field. The
Posh almost took an eight minute lead when nobody marked Steve Laurie making
a late run into the penalty area at a corner, but he headed powerfully over.
The visitors did take the lead shortly before the break, a throw from the
right was helped on by the head of a Harriers defender, and Killian Brennan
swept the ball home at the far post. The advantage was boubled straight
after the interval, a free kick on the left was not cleared and the ball
fell to Ryan Semple who rifled a shot into the bottom corner of the net.
Harriers did step up the pressure as the game wore on, but were unable to
find a way past Luke Steele in the Peterborough goal. The keeper first
saved from Matt Reeves and later on from substitute Matt Lewis, while
Michael Glynn also had a couple of good chances but shot high and wide. Ultimately,
Peterborough proved too strong for the Harriers who had a number of trialists
in the team, and the victory allowed them to climb off the bottom of the
League, sending Harriers there in their place.
