Match Report by St@tto

Harriers threw away a chance to close the gap on league leaders Sutton Coldfield when they were held to a goalless draw by Moor Green.

A drab game on a cold night had little to commend it with goalmouth action at a premium.  With Sutton having drawn at Leamington earlier in the week, their first dropped points of the season, a Harriers win would have closed the gap to two points with the two sides yet to meet in the league.  A Harriers victory soon looked unlikely, however, as the game took ages to get going and the only really good chance of the first half came to nothing when Danny Hodnett saw his header cleared off the line by Moor Green's Nathaniel Jones.

Mist drifting across the ground briefly raised hopes of fog and an abandonment but it was not to be and the game dragged on.  After the break it became it little better and there was a flurry of action around the hour mark.  The visitors carved the Harriers defence open, a Daniel Collins pass set Danny Hickman free on the right and his pass set up Wayne Mckaron but Steve Parker in the Harriers goal was quick off his line to dave at his feet.  At the other end a corner caused a scramble in the goalmouth but Moors were able to clear without any Harriers getting in a shot at goal.

Two free kicks could have given Harriers the lead; Scott Eaton curled one from 25 yards over the wall and just over the bar and then Ryan Malcolm tried his luck from further out, his shot beat the wall also but was straight at matthew Marshall in the visitors' goal and he was able to gather it easily.  In the closing minutes it was the visitors who nearly snatched all of the points; a poor kick by Parker went straight to Gareth Evans who tried to catch the keeper out with a long-range shot but Parker was able to scramble across and push it away for a corner.  A dipping shot from former Harrier Jason Ramsey caught Parker off his line but dropped just over the bar and and Harriers were able to breathe again.
