Harriers returned to league action for the first time since December
with a comfortable victory at Boldmere.
Playing on a poor surface with a strong wind blowing the first
half soon became scrappy. Harriers took an early lead when
Ghazanfar was adjudged to have handled in the penalty area and
trialist Michael Xiourouppa stepped up to take the penalty which
he tucked in off Murphy's right hand post. Terrence Carpenter
doubled the lead on the half hour with a fierce 25 yard shot into
the top corner.
Xiourouppa could have had a second but pulled his shot wide from
the edge of the penalty area. The home team pulled a goal
back shortly before the interval when Mason hit a speculative 30
yard shot which, assisted by the wind, beat Yarnold in the Harriers
goal.
Harriers began to make their superiority tell after the break and
restored the two goal advantage when the home team were unable to
clear a corner properly and Adam Smallman rifled the ball home
from the edge of the penalty area. Ghazanfar's completed a
miserable night when he brought down Xiourouppa in the penalty
area to conced his second penalty of the night. Xiourouppa
again took the kick but this time hit it straight down the middle
past Murphy. Within a couple of minutes, Harriers had added
a fifth goal. Another trilist, Peter Carter crossed from the
left, Murphy claimed the cross, but not cleanly, and dropped it into
the net.
