Harriers' five-game winning streak in the Floodlit Youth League was brought to an end by a solitary goal in the local derby against Worcester.
The boys from St George's Lane have now completed the double over Harriers this season having beaten them 7-2 in the first meeting back in September. There was little action in a dour game and it was not until ten minutes before the break that either side threatened to break the deadlock; Tom Byrne's shot was well saved by Mat Clements in the City goal at the expense of a corner and from the resulting flag-kick the visitors managed to scramble the ball away to safety. Alex Woodhouse opened the scoring in the last minute of the half with a goal that lit up a dull game, his 25-yard shot flying into the top corner of the net and giving Tom Harper no chance.
The second half was little better in terms of entertainment. Harriers could have drawn level when Shawn Salmon's corner found an unmarked Joe Cornet who headed straight at Clements. City should have doubled their advantage twenty minutes from the end; a long pass split the Harriers defence open and Oli Clarke found substitute Nat Pearson who blazed his shot over the bar.
In the closing stages Harriers pressed fruitlessly for an equaliser; Alex Dawson's cross from the left found Byrne who didn't make a strong enough contact and his shot was parried by Clements and scrambled away and then a Luke Astley cross from the opposite flank found Byrne again whose weak header was held by the keeper.
