| Match Report |
|
Harriers inched closer to the League title with this hard earned
victory. The fixture congestion of the past week was beginning to
take it's toll, and the tension of the occasion appeared to affect
the play also.
The first half was dominated by Harriers who had nearly all of the possession but wasted the chances that they created: Dale James shot over the bar from six yards out, and Tim Jackson saw his effort well saved. The second period continued in much the same fashion, but Harriers had to wait unti fifteen minutes from the end before the deadlock was broken. As the ball was played in from the right, Harriers' attackers sprung the offside trap and Peter Faulds headed in at the near post. With the goal, all off the tension lifted, and within seconds a second goa had arrived. Tim Jackson attacked well on the left and his low cross to the near post was headed in by leading scorer Matt Reeves. To retain their title, Harriers need to win their next match and then equal or better Burton's next result in their last game. |
