Harriers moved up to second place in the league after a hard-fought victory in a dour match, leapfrogging their visitors in the process.
The first half hour of the game was dull with little goalmouth incident. Hinckley rarely threatened and Liam Teraud, standing-in in goal for the suspended Steve Parker and injured Adam Tromans, had next to nothing to do. Joe Riley had shot wide for the visitors and Steve Thompson shot weakly at Liam Warren at the other end before Teraud was finally called into action to push away a shot from Riley for a corner.
Harriers finally broke the deadlock seven minutes before the break, Daniel Ludlow took a corner on the right short to Tom Byrne who knocked it back to him and he curled his shot into the far corner of the net. Ludlow could have added a second just before the break, James Dyke's cross was missed by Thompson and hit Ludlow on the knee and flew over the bar even though he was only a couple of yards out from goal. On the stroke of half time Harriers doubled their advantage; Dyke set Jermaine Hollis free on the right and his cross to the far post was headed in by Ludlow.
The second half was as devoid of incident as the first. As the game wore on some of the tackles became stronger and the game began to get a little bad-tempered but Harriers continued to control the game. In the final quarter of an hour Harriers could have increased their lead with Ludlow going in search of a hat-trick hitting a free kick from nearly 40 yards out that was too high by just a fraction. At the other end Wright went close with a similar set-piece but his was from only 25 yards and was hit straight at Teraud who coped easily with it, proving himself to be an able keeper.
