Match Report by St@tto

Harriers cruised into the last four of the county cup with a convincing win over Southern Division Redditch United and now travel to Evesham United in the semi-final.

The first half was goalless with little action of note; the visitors could have taken an early lead when Joe Corbett's attempted header back to Tom Harper fell short and was intercepted by Chris McGrath but he lobbed wide.  In the last couple of minutes of the half a free kick from the left fell to Nicky Martin at the far post but Harper did well to save at his feet.  At the other end Tom Byrne's pass through the inside-right channel found Mitch Butler whose first time shot went wide of the far post.

After the break Harriers stepped up a gear and began to take control of the game; a Nathan Walker free kick from 25 yards curled over the wall and narrowly over the bar and shortly afterwards a long punt upfield from Harper was flicked on by Butler to Shawn Salmon whose shot was pushed over the bar by Elliot Rodriguez.

The deadlock was broken just before the hour; Ashley Walker's clearance was flicked on by Butler to Scott Eaton, his shot was saved but Byrne was on hand to fire in the rebound.  Three minutes later Harriers doubled the advantage when Levi Chambers was on hand to fire in the loose ball after Butler's shot had been saved.

As Harriers pressed forward for more goals Byrne went close with a 25-yard shot and Troy Manning had a shot from distance well saved by Rodriguez.  The third goal came six minutes from the end; Eaton's cross from the left found Salmon whose shot crashed back off the crossbar and Butler was first to react to force the rebound into the net.  The best goal of the night completed the scoring in stoppage time; Eaton made a surging run into the penalty area on the left holding off the challenge of Martin before lashing a shot into the roof of the net from a narrow angle.  Butler went close to adding a fifth with a diving header from Eaton's cross five minutes into time added on.
