Harriers were given a stiff test in the second game of their Floodlit Youth League
campaign by Nuneaton and had to settle for just one point after a 1-1 draw.
A lively start to the game saw the home team take the lead in the fourth minute,
Danny Williams climbing unchallenged to head home at the near post from a left wing
corner. The lead lasted only for a few seconds, Harriers attacked straight
away and Richard Langford found Matt White in space on the right. Langford then
turned in White's low cross from close to restore parity.
In a fairly even game Nuneaton had the best of the chances in the remainder of the
first half and Williams nearly restored their advantage with another unchallenged
header but Daniel O'Gorman in the Harriers goal manged to keep it out. The Harriers
keeper was called on again before the break to deny former Harrier Casey Caggini.
After the break Harriers began to dominate possession and created enough chances to
have won the game. Chris McHale rose well to head a corner powerfully goalwards
but Ben Holroyd tipped it over the bar. With fifteen minutes remaining disaster
almost struck Harriers, keeper O'Gorman and Kevin Roeton got in each other's way trying
to clear a long ball leaving it rolling towards goal, fortunately it ran out of play just
wide before Tim MacKintosh could turn it in. In the last minute Harriers had another good chance with a free-kick 25 yards from goal
but substitute Adam Blake's shot just skimmed the crossbar.
