Match Report by St@tto

Harriers competed with the league leaders for a half but were undone, once again, by defensive mistakes.

The first half was even but there were few real clear-cut chances either way although the visitors looked more dangerous when they got into the final third of the pitch.

Alex Palmer, making his home debut, made a couple of crucial saves to keep out efforts from Curtis Guthrie; one of those saves led to a corner that saw James Jennings power a header over the bar.

Guthrie was a problem for Harriers throughout and just before the hour mark he was allowed to run through the heart of the home defence but, fortunately for Harriers, dragged his shot wide.

The opening goal came on 64 minutes; Aaron O'Connor got to the byline on the left and pulled the ball back into the middle where the Harriers defence failed to clear and Keanu Marsh-Brown arrived late to blast the ball into the roof of the net.

Just eight minutes later Forest Green wrapped up the game with the second goal; David Pipe's free-kick from deep on the right should have been an easy claim for Palmer in the Harriers goal but he misjudged it and veteran striker Jon Parkin got his head to it first and loop it over the keeper into the net.

In the closing stages Andrew Fox went close for Harriers but his shot from distance in the inside-left channel went just wide of the far post.  At the other end Sam Wedgbury dispossessed Calvin Dinsley, on as a substitute to make his Harriers debut, and made a strong run on the left, crossing to the far post where Parkin headed down for O'Connor who saw his shot saved by Palmer.

With the last action of the game Harriers could have pulled a goal back when Adam Dawson's free-kick from the right found Andre Wright beyond the far post but he  headed into the side netting.
