Match Report by St@tto

Harriers threw away a two-goal lead for the second time in four matches as they were held to a draw by Chester.

Whereas against Eastleigh Harriers had been able to turn the game back in their favour and go on to win the game after giving up a two-goal advantage this time they could not find another way through the visiting defence and had to settle for just one point from the game.

New loan signing Lewis Kinsella was brought into the side for his debut in place of Zaine Francis-Angol who dropped down to the bench as the only change to the side that had been beaten at Cheltenham in midweek.

The sides were evenly matched in the opening stages with Harriers gradually taking control of proceedings before taking the lead after 21 minutes; Ousmane Fané's cross-field pass picked out Ben Whitfield on the right, his cross to the far post found Arthur Gnahoua who slotted a low shot past Tony Thompson in the Chester goal to record his third goal in four games.

Harriers needed just four minutes to double their advantage; Ryan Lloyd handled in the penalty area and Harry White sent Thompson the wrong way from the penalty spot ,also his third goal in four games.

In stoppage time at the end of the half the visitors could have reduced the arrears but John Rooney saw his 22-yard free-kick held by Dean Snedker as it headed towards the top corner.

Early in the second half Harriers had a great chance to increase their advantage further but White's shot went just over the bar.  Then, just ahead of the hour mark, Whitfield made a good run on the right before a 1-2 with White created a chance for him but his shot was parried.

Harriers were made to rue the missed chances on 65 minutes when Kelvin Langmead was adjudged to have fouled Ross Hannah in the penalty area.  Hannah himself took the spot kick and fired it just beyond the reach of Snedker.

Ten minutes later, with Chester in the ascendancy, Jordan Chappell headed across the face of goal as the visitors pressed for an equaliser.  That equaliser arrived moments later as substitute James Alabi was allowed to turn and shot from 25 yards with a shot into the top corner that gave Snedker no chance.

In the closing moments both sides had chances to win the game; a Chester counter-attack saw Hannah fire narrowly wide while at the other end Evan Garnett worked his way into the penalty area, his effort was blocked and fell to Tyrone Williams who saw his shot well saved by Thompson to earn his side a share of the points.
