Match Report by St@tto

Ben Whitfield's late strike grabbed a point for Harriers and prolonged their stay in the National League for another week.

Needing to win to keep alive their slim hopes of survival Harriers made a number of changes to the side that had been beaten last time out by Tranmere Rovers.  Coming back into the starting line-up were skipper Jared Hodgkiss and Ben Whitfield while Arthur Gnahoua returned from injury on the bench.

Harriers got off to a poor start with the visitors taking the lead after just eight minutes; latching on to a long ball over the inside-left channel Damian Reeves got into the penalty area and lobbed the ball over Max O'Leary who had started to come out and was stranded in no-man's land.

Elton Ngwatala was a threat for Harriers throughout a poor first half that was clearly being played by two teams in the bottom four of the league.  The lively Frenchman three times saw his shots saved by visiting keeper Tim Deasy, but in reality none of them were a real threat to break the deadlock.

After the interval Harriers dominated possession but it took until the 69th minute for them to threaten; Whitfield's corner from the right found Kelvin Langmead at the far post, he powered a header towards the top corner but Deasy got across well to save at the expense of another corner.

As the game drew to a conclusion Harriers looked set to suffer another defeat but in the 89th minute Altrincham failed to clear a deep cross from the left and when the ball was played back in Langmead flicked it on to Whitfield on the right who cut inside and unleashed a shot across Deasy and inside the far post to record his fifth goal of the season making him joint leading scorer with Gurjit Singh.
