Is That Luck Changing?
Friday, December 23rd, 2005I wrote recently that we must have some good luck coming our way as we hadn’t had anything go our way so far; it looks like that change may be beginning.
Nine times out of ten you would expect Bradford to have beaten us in the LDV the other night if for no other reason than they are two leagues higher than us, or 52 league places if you prefer. To level that difference out Mr Bates sent off, quite correctly, Lee Crooks after just 6 minutes giving us an extra man against supposedly superior opposition. Result: a storming win and several thousand more quid in the coffers. The performance, and therefore the result, was not lucky, but having that man sent off so early was.
The same night Grays were booking their trip to Aggborough for the second round of the FA Trophy with an 118th minute goal. When we played them on their patch in the Conference they got lucky with John Danby throwing a stoppage time equaliser into his own net; hopefully that will get balanced out on January 14, there’s another five grand at stake that day.
