Wednesday, June 6th, 2007I like the look of the first new signing made by Harriers, striker Justin Richards.
A proven striker at this level he should provide good competition for places in attack, and if he can chip in 15 goals along with James Constable and Iyseden Christie it can only be of benefit to the team given that we were among the lowest scorers in the division in the season just ended.
If this is a sign of the quality of player that Mark Yates has lined up then the squad has to be getting close to the one that we want to get us into the play-offs. I have always felt that if you release five or six fringe players from the squad you should bring in ones to replace the first choice team, demoting them to fringe players and not just replace the fringe players. Hopefully, the rest of the four or five that he has lined up will be of similar standard and then when pre-season comes the trialists that will inevitably be on show will be good enough to fill out the squad – they can be the fringe players.
