Match Report
Harriers scored their first ever goal against Scunthorpe and it was enough to ensure opening day victory.

The opening exchanges were fairly even with the visitors having perhaps the better. The game became quite scrappy and stuck in midfield, the only shot on target in the opening period was Carl Bradshaw's long range effort which was hit straight at Stuart Brock.

After the break Harriers grew stronger, Stewart Hadley's header forced Evans to make a save although it did not really have enough power to trouble him. Soon after Stuart Thom brought Hadley down just outside the penalty area and Andy Ducros stepped up and hammered the free-kick past the wall and into the top corner with Evans rooted to the spot.

Martin Carruthers and Peter Beagrie both drew saves from Brock as the visitors pressed, and Harriers' Ian Foster on as a sub for Ducros also had a good chance which Evans saved. Harriers weathered the storm as Scunthorpe pressed for a late equaliser and deservedly held on to win.
