Match Report
Despite a valiant attempt, ten-man Harriers bow out of the LDV Trophy in a stirring cup tie at Saltergate. Despite playing with ten men for over an hour, they were only knocked out by David Reeves' Golden Goal.

Playing into a strong wind in the opening period Harriers matched their higher division hosts and created some good chances to open the scoring. On 25 minutes Larkin headed wide when he had more time than he realised and as the ball was crossed back in he pulled his shot wide of the other post.

The game sprang to life on the half hour mark when D'Auria and Foster challenged for the ball which was trapped under the legs of the prone D'Auria. Several Chesterfield players took exception to the way Foster had tried to kick the ball free and a mass brawl ensued in front of the dugouts. The game was held up for several minutes while the referee tried to establish what had happened. The red card was shown to Foster and two Chesterfield players saw yellow. Foster later emerged to sit in the stand sporting a bruise on his face from a punch thrown in the brawl.

Despite the lack of a player, Harriers didn't change their tactics and after the break, with the wind at their backs, continued to take the game to their hosts. Unfortunately, despite creating a string of chances, Harriers only made Abbey save once. Abdou Sall had a free-kick which went over the bar from nside his own half, and Mark Blake headed over twice.

Harriers stood firm and deservedly took the game into extra-time but it was not long before the tie was ended when they failed to clear a corner and Reeves lashed the ball home to end the game.
