Match Report by St@tto |
Harriers eased into the semi-final of the Worcestershire Senior
Cup with a very comfortable victory over local rivals Stourport.
In a low-key game Harriers took little time in getting into their stride, the strong team that they fielded was to much for the visitors to cope with and it was no surprise when they took the lead. Three players who have been on the sidelines in recent games, Foster, Ducros and Shilton, all came in with a point to prove and it was Foster who created the opening for Drewe Broughton to head in his fourth of the season. The other two, Ducros and Shilton combined to increase the lead shortly afterwards and the lively Ducros created a third for Foster to effectively en the game inside 30 minutes. Ducros added the fourth himself with a blistering shot and a hatful looked on the cards. Tim Langford, the new Stourport manager and one of six former Harrriers in the Swifts side, pounced on some sloppy defended to grab a consolation goal with a good finish, but there was never any danger of them getting back into the game. After the break Harriers took their foot off the pedal with the game won but could still have scored several more. Drewe Broughton was the major culprit for wasting chances, twice forcing Hipkins to save, once hitting the post and once managing to hit Matt Lewis who was lying flat on the floor in the goalmouth. The fifth goal eventually came, Shilton's corner was headed goalwards by Broughton, and would have gone in, to be turned in by Foster. |
