Match Report by St@tto |
Harriers gave a sparkling performance as they comfortably brushed
aside Rochdale's feeble challenge.
Straight from the start Harriers set about their victims and took the lead after just three and a half minutes when Henriksen pounced to rifle the ball home after Appleby's shot had been blocked. Harriers dominated the opening period, Rochdale rarely threatened, and 'Dale had to thank keeper Steve Banks for keeping out shots from Bennett and Henriksen. Towards the end of the half Rochdale gradually began to get into the game. Oliver had a shot which could have caused Brock some problems had he hit it with more power, and then eight minutes from the break the same player headed Rochdale's equaliser. Harriers continued to press and on the stroke of half-time they were back in front when Banks let Henriksen's shot through his legs. After the break Harriers soon increased the lead, Williams crossed from the left for Blake to head in at the far post. The home team continued to dominate and had a great chance to increase the lead when Bennett dispossed Banks but instead of getting in a shot himself he pulled the ball back behind Larkin. The fourth goal came shortly before the end, Dean Bennett scoring for the sixth game in succession outpacing the visiting defence and tucking a shot into the bottom corner. Substitute Drewe Broughton almost added a fifth but was denied by Banks. |
