Match Report by St@tto
Harriers dropped two points in a game that they could have won but stretched their Christmas unbeaten run to three games.

Playing on a very poor surface in constant rain it was Bury who made the early running and were first to show in front of goal, Kenny Coleman being called upon to clear Chris Billy's goalbound shot.  The conditions were not conducive to good football and the game soon became very scrappy, the teams were fairly evenly matched and cancelled each other out.

Harriers' best chance of the half came ten minutes before the interval, Coleman directed a deep cross / shot into the penalty area that was just too high for Bo Henriksen to get his head to.  Had he done so his effort would certainly have defeated Glyn Garner who was folloeing the flight of the ball.

After the break Harriers stepped up their performance and began to take control of the game with the midfield in particular closing down their opponents very quickly.  Three minutes into the half Harriers took the lead, Andy Bishop crossed well from the left towards Henriksen but he was kncked away from the ball by Danny Swailes and referee Laws had no hesitation in pointing to the penalty apot.  JJ Melligan grabbed the ball to take the kick but it was taken off him and Henriksen himself stepped forward to calmly slot the penalty to Garner's left with the keeper diving in the wrong direction.

After 55 minutes Bury came close to an equaliser, a corner from the left was headed off the line by Lee Ayres and the follow-up shot by George Clegg went narrowly wide.  On the hour Bury threw on David Nugent in place of Steve Redmond and switched to a more attacking 4-3-3 formation in search of the equaliser.  The goal came fourteen minutes from the end, Hinton did well to prevent Nugent from getting his shot in but the ball ran to Jon Newby who drilled the ball into the far corner for his eleventh goal of the season.

This set up an exciting finish to the game with both teams looking to win the game.  A minute later Bury almost took the lead, Stuart Brock cleared poorly straight at Nugent but recoverd well to save the striker's shot.  Two minuted from the end Harriers came close to winning the game, Henriksen played a pass through the home defence into the path of Melligan running through the inside-right channel but Garner was quick off his line to smother the ball before Melligan could make a proper attempt at a shot and the game ended with no further excitement.
