Harriers Grab First Home Win: Harriers 2-0 Altrincham

Harriers finally recorded their first home win of the season with a comfortable victory over visiting Altrincham.

Following on form their draw at Blyth Harriers made changes to the team, bringing back Milan Butterfield and Rhys Williams who had missed the previous game while being away on international duty while Tom Palmer continued in goal in place of the injured Cameron Gregory.

Harriers needed just ten minutes to take the lead; Correy Davidson broke away on the left and fed the ball inside to Ashley Chambers who swept the ball over Tony Thompson in the visitors' goal for his seventh goal of the season.  Chambers turned provider just past the half-hour mark when his pass set up Ed Williams but his shot was saved by the outstretched foot of Thompson and went out for a corner.

After the break Harriers continued to press to increase their lead; early in the half The Robins failed to clear a corner from the left but Harriers couldn't capitalise, first Cliff Moyo's shot was heading wide when it was blocked, the loose ball running to Richard Peniket who fired wide.

Moments later another Davidson cross from the left found Chambers at the far post, his knock back found Sam Austin who shot just wide of the upright.  The second goal came after 65 minutes; Declan Weeks lofted a long pass over the defence for Chambers to run on to, he broke clear and tucked his shot low to the goalkeeper's left.

At the other end the defence stood strong and protected Palmer well, he didn't have a save to make until eight minutes from the end of the game when he easily gathered in Ashley Hemmings' free-kick.

A much-needed victory and three points lifted Harriers back into the top half of the table before taking a break next weekend for the FA Cup.
