Match Report by St@tto

A young Harriers side full of trialists was beaten by Cinderford in the first friendly of the summer at The Causeway.

A Harriers side that was barely recognisable from the team that played last season took on Phil Mullen's Cinderford side. Jan Molby introduced a number of new faces to the team as he continues his search for new talent, only three of the starting line-up were with the club last season.

Several of the trialists showed promise as Harriers dominated possession; right-back Fred Advice, and midfielders Ruaidhri Higgins and Simon Russell caught the eye.  Harriers created a hatful of chances but were denied again and again by home keeper Andy Fisher.  After wasting a number of chances they fell behind to a sloppy goal hooked in by Richard Kear that took a deflection over John Danby.

Youssou Diop, a Senegalese attacking midfielder who has spent time with Tououse in France, almost brought Harriers level straight away with a stinging 30-yard drive that Fisher pushed over the bar.  However, instead of capitialising on their continued domination of the game and drawing level, Harriers went further behind before the interval when Steve Lutz's cross from the right was turned into his own net by Wayne Hatswell.

After the break Harriers continued as before and had the lion's share of the play but were unable to do anything with it; Jimmy Turner made a good run forward from the leeft back position but fired wide of the far post, and Jesper Christiansen set up Jimmy Gleeson who fired over the bar.

Eventually, Harriers pulled a goal back; a good run by Russell created the opening for Gleeson who drilled the ball past Fisher for a late consolation.
