Harriers' pre-season build up continued with a comfortable victory over Evesham at
Common Road that saw the team convert more of the chances that they created.
A bright start for the visitors saw them passing the ball around well and creating
early chances. There was a good shout for a penalty when former Harrier Jay
Powell appeared to handle inside the area but the referee waved play on. In
the opening 15 minutes Andy Ducros had a good free-kick well saved by Craig Ladek
while at the other end Shaun Pratt wasted Evesham's best chance lobbing over the
bar.
Harriers eventually took the lead late in the half, a ball over the defence deceived
Peter Sollis and Andy Ducros took advantage with a well judged lob over Darren
Steadman. With the deadlock broken, Harriers almost doubled the lead within two
minutes when Bo Henriksen hammered Ducros' pull back against the crossbar. Another
long ball opened up the defence for Drewe Broughton who held of his marker well
before slotting the ball past Steadman.
After the break Harriers' superior fitness began to tell and most of the second
period was played in the Evesham half. Ian Foster forced a save from Steadman
and then Ducros was thwarted by Adam Moss, Evesham's third keeper of the game.
With twenty minutes remaining the home team managed their first shot on target, Grant
Pinkney shooting straight at Stuart Brock. A cross from Foster almost led to
Andy Corbett heading in a third but the same player made no mistake nine minutes
from time from close range after Daire Doyle had taken the ball around Moss and pulled
it back into the danger area. Sam Shilton finished the game off in the last
minute with a strong run into the penalty area before tucking his shot under the
keeper.
