Match Report by St@tto
Harriers' season ended on a sour note when they were beaten by Worcester in an often ill-tempered local derby.

The game was spoiled by one of the worst pitches Harriers have had to play on this season and some erratic decisions by the officials.  Harriers had most of the possession in the first half but were unable to capitalise on it as the pitch was too uneven for them to get their normal passing game going.  City were able to soak up the Harriers pressure and only once did Lee Brown have to make a save, a shot from Stuart Skitt that bounced wickedly in front of him.  Skitt almost beat him again with a cross shot that skimmed the face of the crossbar.

Worcester took the lead midway through half when they were fortunate to profit from a rare mistake from John Danby.  The keeper was deceived by a deep cross from the left and dropped the ball in front of Lee Goodman who headed in from close range.

After the break and a stiff talking-to from manager Ian Britton Harriers began to create a few more chances although they still didn't really test Brown in the City goal.  Harriers were handed a lifeline after 67 minutes when Ben Humber handled inside the penalty area under pressure from Terence Carpenter and conceded a penalty.  Richard Langford stepped up to take the kick but he struck it weakly and Brown blocked it with his legs.  Fortunately the loose ball came back to Langford and he tucked it away cleanly.

Carpenter almost gave Harriers the lead when he made a good run into the penalty area and his shot almost caught out Brown at his near post.  City regained the lead with ten minutes remaining with only their second shot on target.  Again the goal had an element of good fortune about it, a free kick was awarded 25 yards out and Matthew Stock's kick found a gap in the Harriers wall that should have charged his shot down and gave Danby no chance as he was unsighted.

Harriers threw bodies forward in search of an equaliser and twice nearly found it.  An indirect free-kick was awarded in the Worcester penalty area which was blocked and in stoppage time Scott Lower steered a shot over the bar.  Harriers had only themselves to blame for their defeat, failing to convert all of their possession into more clear-cut chances or adapting to the conditions as well as Worcester did.
