Match Report
Harriers dig deep to earn victory in the County Cup final for the seventh time in nine seasons. Having played two games in the previous two evenings, Harriers' players were obviously tired and were given a hard battle by Alvechurch.

The best of the goalscoring chances in the first half all fell to Harriers, but the final ball into the danger area was often astray and the bumpy surface also made life difficult. Matt Reeves and Richard Langford both had chances to open the scoring but failed to capitalise.

Alvechurch took the lead against the run of play when they were surprisingly given a penalty. John danby dived the right way but Junior Hewitt's spot kick just evaded his grasp. The lead didn't last long, however, Reeves played the ball in from the right to Tim Jackson 25 yards out and he buried his shot beyond Powell in the Alvechurch goal.

Alvechurch felt that they should have had another penalty nine minutes from the end when Danby clashed with Earl Jordan, but their appeals fell on deaf ears, and they also lost Jordan who was carried off on a stretcher.

With the game heading towards extra time, Harriers continued to press and in the last minute Langford struck a shot from outside the penalty area into the top corner of the net to win the game. The celebrations had to wait, however, as referee Canning found an astonishing twelve minutes of stoppage time to add on before allowing the game to end.
