Kidderminster continued their unbeaten start to the season with a
comfortable victory which really should have been by a greater
margin.
Playing in difficult conditions, with both rain and a stiff breeze,
Harriers dominated the game. In the opening period the visitors
struggled to cope with the Harriers better play, often their players
seem unsure of what they should be doing. However, despite having
the best of the possession, Harriers were dragged down to the level
of their opponents and it took them half an hour to break the deadlock.
Terence Carpenter received the ball on the left, breezed past two
defenders and struck his shot straight at Cris Gemmill in the Warwick goal,
the keeper parried the shot but Carpenter reacted quickly to fire
in the rebound. Soon afterwards Richard Bailey went close with a
long range shot which was just too high.
After the break Harriers stepped up a gear. Nick Heath's cross
from the right was dropped by Gemmill and Carpenter pounced to
knock in the loose ball. Moments later Bailey tried his luck from
distance again. This time his shot was on target, Gemmill blocked
it but Richard Langford followed up to head in his third goal
of the season.
Warwick had a brief spell when they came into the game after about
an hour, Anthony Carter hit a free-kick against the defensive wall
but that was the extent of their threat. Substitute Dale James
added the fourth to complete the victory, running unchallenged
into the penalty area before tucking his shot inside the far post.
