Harriers find themselves three games without a win following a dour goalless draw with struggling Northwich Victoria at Aggborough. The new-look Harriers side included all four deadline day signings, three of whom - Darryl Knights, Luke Jones and Matt Bailey - were making their debuts. With Stuart Whitehead having moved on to pastures new Russ Penn took the captain's armband. It was a stereotypical goalless draw with little excitement in it at either end. In fact the visitors didn't manage a shot at goal at all in the first half. Harriers' best effort came from Jeff Kenna with a free-kick that Lewis Edge in the Vics' goal did well to push away for a corner. Edge came to the visitors' rescue again in the second half saving from Simon Russell and substitute Matt Barnes-Homer. Northwich included amongst their subs one-time Harrier Cayne Hanley who came off the bench midway through the half and within minutes had wasted a good chance, shooting wide after Harriers failed to clear a corner. Woeful shooting from the Vics in the second half meant that Chris MacKenzie was able to keep his third clean sheet in his last four appearances (his last games were in November). Neither side looked likely to break the deadlock and a draw was a fair result that didn't really help either side in their hopes of moving up the Conference table. |
