Referee: Richard A Martin (Weston-Super-Mare) |
Harriers' biggest away win of the season saw them stretch their run of good form to 12 wins in 14 games and maintain their position in the play-offs Steve Burr made just one change from the side that beat Cambridge in the previous match, Callum Gittings coming in for the injured Danny Jackman in midfield, on the bench was new signing Greg Pearson but other new addition Martin Devaney had to miss out. Harriers needed just 20 minutes to take the lead, Kyle Storer and Amari Morgan-Smith combining on the right with the latter sending over an excellent cross that found the unmarked Anthony Malbon who powered a header past Chris Dilo in the home goal to record his second goal in as many games. After Dilo had kept his side in the game with a couple of smart saves Hyde had a great chance to level the scores when Lee Vaughan was penalised for handling in the penalty area. Danny Lewis preserved the lead, though, diving to his left to keep out Phil Jevons' spot kick. Early in the second half Hyde enjoyed a brief spell of possession until Harriers stepped up a gear and doubled the lead on 55 minutes. Gittings' cross-field pass found Marvin Johnson flying on the left wing, he cut inside and despatched a low shot inside the far post. Three minutes later Harriers had made the game safe; Malbon pounced on a poor back pass and set up Morgan-Smith who saw his shot parried by Dilo, James Vincent's follow-up was blocked but fell to Malbon who lashed it into the back of the net. Malbon almost had himself a hat-trick after been sent clear by Johnson's pass but he saw his shot come back off the far post. Fortunately for Harriers Pearson was on hand just moments after coming off the bench to tap in the rebound and make it 4-0. Harriers could have increased their lead further late on but substitute Ryan Rowe saw his shot from Gittings' pass turned away well by Dilo. |
