Skipper Kyle Storer led from the front and headed in Harriers' last-gasp winner at Cressing Road. Once again Harriers had the best of the game, dominating possession and creating the best of the chances. Once again, as at Alfreton in midweek, they didn't capitalise on the chances that came their way and had to play a waiting game looking for the one opportunity to change the game. Fielding an unchanged line-up again Harriers should have been ahead after just 12 minutes, and had Michael Gash's header from Storer's free-kick gone in instead of crashing against the bar, the game may have been an easier ride for them. A Gash free-kick from 20 yards out just past the half-hour mark could have given Harriers an interval lead and seven minutes after the break a header by Chey Dunkley from Storer's right-wing corner should have broken the deadlock but the chances were not taken. Harriers then had to be thankful that the home team wasted the few chances that came their way with both Chez Isaac and Sean Marks shooting wildly over the bar. Young prodigy Joe Lolley was brought on with twenty minutes to go to make his debut, looking lively in wide positions but he didn't get an opportunity to test Nathan McDonald in the home goal. In fact, McDonald wasn't really tested all afternoon by a Harriers attack that created chances but didn't capitalise. With the game heading for a goalless draw the winning goal finally came in the 89th minute; Lee Vaughan and Jack Byrne combined on the right wing, with the latter's cross met powerfully by the head of Storer to register his second goal of the season. |
