Match Report by St@tto

Harriers moved back up to fourth in the Conference following their eighth home victory of the season while ending the five-game winning streak of Wrexham.

The visitors served notice of their intentions as early as the seventh minute when Marc Williams' crossfield pass found Wes Baynes in space on the right 20 yards out and he unleashed a wicked shot that had Adam Bartlett comfortably beaten and then crashed back off the post.  The frantic speed of the game meant that at times the football wasn't the prettiest and clear cut chances were few.

Unchanged from their win over Rushden, Harriers broke the deadlock on 25 minutes; Martin Brittain's pass set Matt Barnes-Homer clear on the right and his cross picked out Brian Smikle beyond the far post who brought the ball down with his chest and lashed a rising shot past Gavin Ward into the roof of the net for his seventh goal of the season.

Within a minute, though The Robins went close to an equaliser when Nathan Woolfe cut on from the left wing to the edge of the penalty area and hit a shot that flew past Bartlett and hit the far post.  A good passing move through the middle of the Wrexham defence ended with Russ Penn shooting wide under the challenge of Ritchie de Laet who injured himself and had to be substituted shortly afterwards.  In stoppage time at the end of the half, the frame of the goal came to Harriers' rescue once again when Jefferson Louis' shot came back off Bartlett's right-hand post.

The visitors came out for the second half more fired up, presumable from a half-time roasting from new manager Dean Saunders, and enjoyed a lot of possession.  Just after the hour mark they sent on Patrick Suffo for his debut and he was soon in the thick of the action; Harriers failed to clear a corner properly and the ball was played back in to the newcomer whose first-time shot was excellently saved by Bartlett.

At the other end Brittain's deep cross from the left was heading towards Smikle and Barnes-Homer until it was hooked away from danger by Neil Taylor.  Wrexham continued to create the better chances in the half and with nine minutes remaining called Bartlett into action again with a long-range shot by Angelos Tsiaklis and then in stoppage time Woolfe's cross from the right was put wide of the near post by Marc Williams.
