One moment of indecision cost Harriers two points and the chance of a first-ever win at Histon having dominated the game against the out-of-form Stutes. Unchanged from the team that had convincingly beaten Mansfield in midweek Harriers didn't get going as quickly in a game that lacked incident. It was midway through the first half until either side looked like breaking the deadlock; Josh Simpson's pass through the inside-right channel let in Nat Knight-Percival who shot weakly straight at Dean Coleman. Harriers opened the scoring nine minutes before the break with a goal out of the blue; Darryl Knights' pass found skipper Chris McPhee whose shot on the turn gave ex-Bromsgrove keeper Danny Naisbitt no chance in the home goal. After the break Harriers continued to enjoy the best of the possession while the game didn't really come to life. Twenty minutes from the end a long ball on the left set Matt Barnes-Homer clear, he pulled the bal back to the far post where it was held up by McPhee before rolling it into the path of Brian Smikle who hit a weak shot at Naisbitt. Shortly afterwards David Mcdermott's pass set up Knights who's snapshot flew narrowly wide of the near post. On 78 minutes Harriers had the ball in the net again, Smikle's shot hit McDermott who was in an offside position and the goal was disallowed. Histon capitalised on that let-off just five minutes later; a long ball out of defence should have been dealt with by Martin Riley but his attempted back-pass fell short and left Coleman in no-man's land and allowed Craig Hammond in who fired into the unguarded net. Stoppage time saw more action in with chances at both ends; Barnes-Homer had a 25-yard free-kick beaten away by Naisbitt with no Harrier quick enough to react to the loose ball while at the other end Gareth Gwillim's cross from the left was blasted over at the far post by Hammond. |
