Match Report by St@tto

Harriers stretched their unbeaten run to three games coming from behind twice to take a share of the points against Wrexham at a wet and windy Racecourse.

Mark Yates made one change to the team that had beaten Kettering at the weekend, bringing in David McDermott who had influenced that game after coming off the bench in place of Darryl Knights.

Despite the poor weather conditions both teams were trying to play good football, and in a particularly entertaining first half succeeding.  On-loan Danny Andrew had the first real good chance to open the scoring with a 20-yard free-kick after 18 minutes that went narrowly wide of Chris Maxwell's right-hand post.  At the other end Adrian Cieslewicz did well on the right to set up Andy Fleming who saw his shot well saved by Dean Coleman.

Wrexham took the lead after 26 minutes, the first goal they had scored against Harriers in four games; Wes Baynes drilled a free-kick in low from wide on the left to the far post where Mike Williams arrived unmarked to force the ball in.  Harriers hit back on the half-hour, Robbie Matthews flicking on a long ball to Matt Barnes-Homer who saw his 30-yard effort parried by Maxwell.

The scores were level for just two minutes; more sloppy defending from Harriers allowed Mike Williams to rise unmarked at the far post to head in Baynes' right wing corner.  Harriers kept plugging away and went close to an equaliser when Smikle's shot was saved by Maxwell and Barnes-Homer's follow-up shot was blocked by Curtis Obeng at the expense of a corner.  The equaliser arrived a minute before the break, McDermott's shot was cleared off the line but Chris McPhee was on hand to fire in the loose ball.

After the break as the wind and rain got much worse Wrexham began to get on top and on the hour mark Harriers were indebted to Coleman who made a fantastic save to tip Marc Williams' 30-yard drive over the bar.  A couple of minutes later Martin Riley gave the ball away to Baynes who attacked through the middle before taking the ball wide of Coleman before shooting into the side netting.

At the other end Lee Baker, on in place of Danny Andrew, sent over a free-kick from the right wing to the far post where Smikle headed wide. In the closing minutes it was the home team who looked most likely to score as they pushed Harriers further back; Obeng had a shot from the right turned round the post by Coleman, then Mark Jones' cross from the right was headed wide of the far post by Cieslewicz.  In stoppage time Harriers almost shot themselves in the foot when McPhee's dreadful back-pass put Coleman in trouble and his attempted clearance hit Marc Williams and rebounded just past the post.
