Match Report by St@tto

One moment of magic was enough for Harriers to beat local rivals Stourport; the only problem was the 89 minutes of dross that came before it.

Harriers again sent out a team of trialists and youngsters.  Some of the trialists showed some promise but none of them enough that they are likely to be picked up by the club.  Most of the new faces have some experience with Football League clubs; Omar Recci at Shrewsbury, Darren Jefferies with Bristol Rovers, Aron Wint at Scunthorpe, Darius Darkin at Aston Villa and Ethan Mannion at WBA.

Goalscorer Ryan Simmonds had been with Aston Villa and Brighton and along with Darkin was in the Villa youth team that got to the final of the FA Youth Cup in 2010.  In goal was Ed Baldy who was making his third pre-season appearance as the Harriers management continue to search for a viable back-up to Danny Lewis.

The match itself was devoid of real goalmouth action; Justin Nisbett, himself making a second trial appearance, went close midway through the second half but his shot from outside the penalty area went just over the bar.  The only goal came in the last minute; Simmonds picked up the ball on the left wing, cut inside and despatched a low shot from 20 yards that beat the dive of former Harriers youth team goalkeeper Haydn Whitcombe and nestled in the bottom corner of the net.
