Match Report by St@tto

A goal in each half helped Harriers overcome the stubborn resistance of bottom club Barrow at Agborough.

Steve Burr made two changes from the team that had suffered defeat in the derby game against Hereford, Callum Gittings coming in for the injured Kyle Storer and Ryan Rowe returning in place of the rested Anthony Malbon.

The two new additions to the side combined within the first three minutes of the game to give Harriers the lead, Rowe crashing in his tenth goal of the season. The game was very scrappy, Barrow came to frustrate and largely succeeded. Had it not been for the early goal Harriers would have been made to struggle to break down their visitors.  They did force Danny Hurst into action a couple of times, saving from Jamille Matt and James Vincent.

Goalmouth action was at a premium but Barrow nearly grabbed what would have been an undeserved equaliser twenty minutes from the end but Josh Gowling was well placed to clear off the goal line. Matt could have had a hat-trick in the second half but was denied by Hurst on one occasion and a well-timed goal-line clearance by Sean Hessey on another either side of finally making the game safe with eight minutes left, guiding a looping header from Gittings' cross beyond the reach of Hurst in the Barrow goal.

The victory lifted Harriers back up into fifth place overtaking Luton who were were involved elsewhere in the FA Cup, beating Wolves to add to their fixture backlog.
