Harriers were held to a draw for the first time since November, dropping two points and allowing Mansfield to close the gap at the top of the table. Twice Harriers led but were pegged back by a spirited Woking side that managed to withstand large amounts of pressure as the home side went in search of a winner. Steve Burr made two changes from the team that had won at Southport at the weekend, James Vincent and Marvin Johnson coming in for Keith Briggs and Martin Devaney. Harriers were quickly on top, Anthony Malbon saw a shot saved by Seb Brown in the Woking goal and Johnson fired one wide. Harries took the lead on 13 minutes, Kyle Storer's corner from the left found an unmarked Josh Gowling at the far post who was left with an easy header to score his third goal of the season. Michael Gash had a good opportunity to double the advantage but headed wide before Woking levelled the game up on 22 minutes. Bradley Bubb was brought down by Mickey Demetriou in the penalty area and picked himself up to take the penalty which just evaded the dive of Danny Lewis. With the scores level Woking began to get themselves back into the game and both teams had chances to take the lead before the interval; Jayden Stockley heading across the face of goal for the visitors and Malbon shooting wide for Harriers. A good save from Lewis kept out another Stockley header early in the second half before Harriers regained the lead; Storer's free-kick from the left was headed back across goal by Gash at the far post and turned in by Malbon for his 16th goal of the season. Woking hit back straight away and from the kick-off worked the ball forward for Billy Knott to run through and despatch a shot past Lewis from the edge of the penalty area. As the game wore on Harriers got back on top and threw everything they had at Woking and created enough chances to have won the game comfortably. Keith Briggs saw a long range shot hit the post while Danny Pilkington saw his effort clip the crossbar and also had a free-kick saved by Brown. There was a late appeal for a penalty for the home team when Ryan Rowe went down in the penalty area that was not given and Rowe was lucky not to find his name in the referee's notebook as he had already booked Woking's Kevin Betsy for simulation in the first half. |
