Referee: Amy Fearn (Leicester) |
Controversy reigned at Aggborough as Harriers saw off the challenge of a Wrexham side that finished the game with ten men. Referee Amy Fearn was at the centre of events as Wrexham, trailing 2-0 at the time, scored what they felt was a perfectly good goal. Adrian Cieslewicz's shot beat Danny Lewis and ended up well wide of the goal only for the Wrexham players to point out a hole in the side netting that the ball had passed through; after a considerable delay and consulting both of her assistants and the fourth official she eventually awarded the goal. Harriers were comfortably in control of the game at that point, though, thanks to Joe Lolley's first-half opener after good work by Anthony Malbon and Danny Jackman and a second half strike by Lolley that was forced over the line by Wrexham defender Mark Carrington. After having their advantage reduced, though, Harriers hit back and added a third goal through Chey Dunkley who headed in powerfully from Lee Vaughan's cross. Late on former Harrier Andy Bishop was sent off for violent conduct after a clash with Harriers skipper Kyle Storer. |
