Referee: Declan Ford (Leicestershire) |
A very disappointing performance from Harriers saw them slump to defeat against lowly Dartford. The Kent side had lost eleven of their last twelve league games and hadn't won since beating Hyde in October but have now completed the double over Harriers this season. Andy Thorn made just one change to the side, bringing in Marvin Johnson in place of the departed Joe Lolley, meaning new signings Adrian Cieslewicz and Santiago Aloi had to be content with places on the bench. Dartford got off to a flying start, taking the lead after less than three minutes, Max Cornhill heading in from close range a cross from Alex Woodyard. Neither side looked good in a terrible first half that was made worse by the surface of the pitch that was cutting up quite badly under the steady drizzle that fell throughout. The visitors doubled their advantage midway through the half; Alex Wall broke clear on the left and saw his shot spilled by Danny Lewis straight to the feet of Andy Pugh who was left with an easy tap-in to score. A good move involving Michael Gash and Lee Vaughan just past the half-hour mark saw Jack Byrne in with a decent opportunity but Alan Julian saved at his feet. Lewis, who had flapped at a couple of crosses before his error for the second goal, went some way to redeeming himself just before the interval with a good save to deny Elliot Bradbrook. After the break Harriers looked a little better, it would have been hard not to, and reduced the arrears just three minutes into the second half. Kyle Storer's pass sent Vaughan away on the right and his cross to the far post was turned in by Gash for his 12th goal of the season. Midway through the half Gash went close to an equaliser but his shot after being picked out by a cross from Cieslewicz hit the bar and rebounded to safety. Late on Aloi set Anthony Malbon clear with a good long pass, he set up Jack Byrne but he shot wide. Deep in stoppage time Dartford almost grabbed another but James Stevenson's 30-yard lob dropped just over the bar. |
