Match Report by St@tto

Michael Gash's goal gave Harriers back-to-back league wins for the first time since November.

Gash, making his first appearance since shaking off a hamstring injury, struck on the hour to give Harriers their second win in the space of four days.

They were made to work hard for the points, though, by a Barnet side who despite losing their last two games looked like a side chasing a place in the play-offs: well-organised, fast to move the ball in possession and even fast to close down when not.

Even though the visitors enjoyed the lion's share of possession in the opening half they didn't threaten Danny Lewis in the Harriers goal too much, Kieron Cadogan's free-kick ten minutes before the interval the only shot on target of the first half but Lewis pushed it away for a corner.  Harriers' best chance fell to Anthony Malbon in stoppage time, he fired over the bar after creating the opportunity for himself with a mazy run into the penalty area on the right.

The visitors gave Harriers a scare early in the second half when Jon Nurse set up Cadogan but his shot was cleared off the line by Lee Vaughan.  Harriers were brighter in the second half and after the introduction of Jack Byrne in place of Josh O'Keefe they enjoyed their best spell of the game.

Malbon was again involved soon after the change, breaking into the penalty area on the left his shot was pushed away by Graham Stack behind the incoming Gash and Amari Morgan-Smith.  The loose ball ran to Callum Gittings but his first touch was poor and The Bees were able to clear.

Harriers took the lead on the hour; Danny Jackman made a good run through the inside right channel before finding Gittings, his pass picked out Gash on the edge of the penalty area who saw his shot take just enough of a deflection to make it loop over the head of Stack and into the net for his 13th goal of the season.

At the other end Harry Crawford was unable to to reach a Andy Yiadom's cross from the right as the visitors looked to hit back straight away.  With eighteen minutes left Harriers could have doubled their advantage; Morgan-Smith's flick on found Malbon but his quick lob, when he had more time than he realised, from 25 yards went wide.

Barnet were reduced to ten men eight minutes from time.  Stack raced out of his area to meet a long ball that Marvin Johnson was chasing and even though he was 30 yards from goal he tried to punch the ball clear but instead took out the Harriers player.

Even with the numerical disadvantage Barnet pressed for an equaliser and nearly grabbed on seven minutes into stoppage time but Crawford's header was tipped over the bar by Lewis.
