Match Report by St@tto

Harriers' hopes of a run to Wembley in the FA Trophy are over after losing to Conference rivals Altrincham.

A missed penalty by Craig Reid was to prove costly as Harriers were kept at bay by Altrincham keeper Stuart Coburn who pulled off a string of impressive saves to consign them to a third consecutive home defeat.

New loan signing Nathaniel Kelly was brought in for his debut at the heart of the defence alongside Jamie Grimes with Jordan Tunnicliffe cup-tied and was generally impressive although it was his mistake that let in Damian Reeves on 19 minutes to latch on to Nicky Clee's pass to volley past Danny Lewis to score the only goal of the game.

Harriers had already had a warning from the visitors with Lewis tipping a Reeves header onto and over the bar just minutes before the goal but after falling behind they began to get into the game.  Midway through the half Grimes headed across the face of goal from Reid's corner.

There was a setback for Harriers after 36 minutes when leading scorer Marvin Johnson was forced from the game with an injury to be replaced by Keyon Reffell making his debut.  Three minutes before the break Harriers should have been level; Jack Byrne made a great jinking run into the penalty and was tripped by Gianluca Havern, Reid took the penalty but blasted it high over the bar.

After the interval it was all Harriers; an early Kevin Nicholson free-kick from the left found Kelly at the far post but his shot hit Coburn.  On the hour Akwasi Asante found Jared Hodgkiss on the right whose cross was headed over the bar by Byrne.  Shortly afterwards Asante forced his way through the defence into the penalty area but shot straight at the keeper, Reffell fired he follow-up wide.

Coburn was in inspired for and managed to get in the way of everything that Harriers could throw at him; Asante's shot after Alty had failed to clear a Nicholson corner was saved, Nicholson's 20-yard shot was held on the goal-line and in the last minute he dived to his right to keep out Nicholson's 30-yard free-kick.  Despite the referee adding five minutes of stoppage time Harriers were unable to find a way through the solid Altrincham defence and were out of the competition.
