Match Report by St@tto

Harriers remain rooted to the foot of the table after their latest defeat, this time falling to Welling United at Aggborough.

With their winless start to the season now standing at 14 games Harriers, and the four teams above them, are starting to come adrift of the rest of the league.  The gap between 19th and 20th place is now six points with Harriers a further five points back.

Harriers fielded the same starting line-up that had drawn at Barrow last time out, leaving new signing Zaine Francis-Angol on the bench along with Lathaniel Rowe-Turner who was back from illness.

An often dour game had few chances at either end; after Joe Clarke had whipped in a free-kick from the left in the fourth minute that was caught by United keeper Tom King Harriers didn't test him again until late in the half when Tahvon Campbell fired straight at him.  For United the lively Sandro Semedo fired wide with their only real opportunity of the half.

The came turned early in the second period; Jordan Tunnicliffe's well-timed tackle on Harry Lee was adjudged a foul by referee Karl Evans and from the resultant set-piece George Porter fired through the wall and under Alex Palmer to give the visitors the lead with just four minutes gone.

Three minutes later things got worse for Harriers as Porter, through on goal, went down far too easily with Tunnicliffe breathing down his neck and the referee had no hesitation in showing the defender the red card.

Harriers huffed-and-puffed to get back into the game but didn't stretch their opponents or test the goalkeeper until well into stoppage time; first a cross from the right by skipper Jared Hodgkiss was headed wide by Kelvin Langmead and then Aman Verma headed Jake Green's corner from the left over the bar.
